ARTISTS FOR NATURE FOUNDATION

In 2004 I was thrilled to be given the SWLA/ANF Young Artist Award so had the opportunity to take part in the artist expedition to the Great Fen in Cambridgeshire. It is an amazing and humbling experience to work alongside renowned international artists and I have been honoured to have the opportunity to take part in subsequent trips to Israel, India and Sark.

Established in 1990 Artists for Nature Foundation (ANF) is a unique organisation that uses the creative output of artists as a medium to draw attention to the need for nature to be appreciated as an essential element of sustainable development.   Renowned and talented artists from all over the world visit the chosen area of conservation concern and produce paintings,  drawings, prints and sculptures inspired by the experience both whilst on location and back in their studios.

ANF acts as a catalyst for nature conservation and is not itself a formal nature conservation organisation. It draws the attention of policy-formulators and decision-makers to the natural world  by enabling  groups of influential and talented artists to capture the spirit of endangered landscapes and species in their natural habitat. Professionally mounted exhibitions of the artworks, DVD’s and books that tell the story of each project and place have become collector’s items show and tell the stories of the specific project.
